In World Supersport...

Pre-season preparation for both teams campaigning Triumphs in this year's World Supersport Championship is also going very well.

The official factory team - Team Triumph SC - have confirmed that former GP star Garry McCoy will ride a Daytona 675 in the World Supersport championship while British youngsters Tom Grant and Robbie Stewart will be competing in the European Superstock Championship.  The second rider for World Supersport is expected to be announced shortly.

Although development of the bike had only just begun, the team ended the first Pirelli winter test in Qatar, in late November, in a positive mood after posting competitive lap times.  By the second Pirelli test at Phillip Island in January the team had developed the engine to produce an impressive extra 8 bhp over the engine used in Qatar.  Despite some technical gremlins, which lost a day of testing, Garry McCoy again posted some consistently quick lap times.  The team are very happy with the overall chassis and suspension package and their best lap with race tyres (1.35.9) was just a few tenths of a second behind the fastest lap posted by any rider on race tyres (1.35.7).

The other Triumph entrant in WSS - Team Triumph Italia BE1 Racing - have also posted some impressive results during testing.  During a recent two-day test at Valencia, rider Ivan Clementi set a fastest time of 1.38.8, which would have been good enough to get him on the front row at last season's round.  Both Clementi and second rider Mark Atchison, a promising young Australian, are very comfortable with the bike and pleased at the progress they are making.  Their next test is the 23 - 25 January at Almeria, Spain.

The WSS calendar has been confirmed as follows and is expected to be covered live on Eurosport:
